I’m not sure why they decided to slow down motor vehicles to such a ridiculous speed on a main road where there are not a lot of pedestrians, unless it is to generate income from the speeding tickets in this zone. It is one of the reasons why I would never want to live in this town called Taber, Alberta. Read the rest of this entry »

I was driving through Three Hills on my way to Red Deer Alberta on June 5 2017. I filled up the vehicle I was driving at Esso, which is the first gas station you see on the highway and right beside Super 8 Hotel. The cost was 106.9 per litre. After I filled up, I drove down through town and saw Shell gas station. The price was 101.9. Since people think that prices are fairly consistent in one area, they, like me, don’t think about taking a 1 or 2 kilometre drive down the main drag to check the price. I hope I never make that mistake again.

There are a few different brands of baked potato chips out there, and they typically taste quite different. They are worth it for those who have to give up regular chips for whatever reason. It’s either eat those or figure out another snack. I’ve finally found a brand of baked chips that taste marvelous, taste almost the same if not better than the regular chips, and I’m so glad a company figured out how to make them. Not only that, they are healthy. Kettle Brand Baked Potato Chips with 60 percent less fat Read the rest of this entry »

The Keg wc Lethbridge

I was having an amazing meal at The Keg restaurant in Lethbridge, Alberta, enjoying their scrumptious steak and mouth-watering twice-baked potato. I wandered into their washroom or “water closet” or powder room after dinner, and ended up taking photos of their beautiful facility. It was the ladies’ washroom so I cannot speak for what the men’s look like. This was the loveliest bathroom I had seen in a restaurant in a long time, at least from the countertops on up. I think every restaurant needing an updated washroom should learn from The Keg’s interior decorator. The counter tops were an ethereal blue stone and the place was sleek and zen-like. What an amazing model for anyone’s bathroom whether at home or in a business.

I’ve struggled since hitting my 40’s with weight loss. I looked mighty fine when I was 39, super slim after 3 children, and suddenly I started gaining weight and no matter what I did, the old methods of losing didn’t work. I was fortunate, because I started working several years later at an office where someone introduced me to Paleo. She was doing cross-fit and decided to take the one month challenge. I along with several other staff decided to also. This changed everything – my clothes started growing too big, my body started diminishing in all the right places, and my energy level soared. I had the pleasure of being in Maui for holidays this April. One day my daughter decided to buy Maui Style Maui Onion flavored potato chips. She quickly realized that she was going to have to share the bag with me because once I tasted them, my own bag of chips was no longer comparable. The chips are amazing. I think they are like a blend of onion flavor, ranch and sour cream flavors all mixed together. Read the rest of this entry »

I was recently in Great Falls Montana again over New Years. We went to a highly rated restaurant by the river, at least by the reviews on Trip Advisor.¬†The restaurant¬†was rated as the second best restaurant in Great Falls. Mackenzie River Pizza Co. has great pizza, but the Cobb salad I ordered with the house dressing was out of this world. I ordered a small, which was huge, and big enough for a meal, and decided to try the house dressing. It was pure ambrosia, and I asked after my meal if they sold the dressing. Sure enough they did, in a mason jar. I ordered one pint and wish I had ordered several. Next time I go there, I know what I’ll be having, and if I do nothing else, I’ll buy some house dressing. Apparently the ingredients are found online if you search, but the measurements for the ingredients are not there. All I can say is, this was the best Cobb salad I’ve ever had, and the best house dressing ever created. Good work to this Montana restaurant.

I was in St Pete’s Beach area this past April and have driven along Gulf Boulevard many times, but have somehow missed seeing Smiley’s Snack Shack on my left hand side as I drive from the Don Cesar to Publix Groceries. We whipped into Smiley’s on a whim after finally seeing the cozy canteena on the Gulf side of the road. A very friendly lady, forget her name, recommended the grilled cheese sandwich, telling my daughter and me they were out of this world. We ordered one, and oh man it was amaaaaaaazing. The cheese – I believe she said there were two types of cheese used. I think she used an American blend and Swiss, but you’d have to ask. I am not a Swiss cheese lover at all, but this was phenomenal. Read the rest of this entry »

I happened to come upon a new meat store about 15 minutes south of Medicine Hat, Alberta on Hwy 1 South. The store is called Deerview Meats and it is a fairly new store. We walked into this welcoming log building to find an impressive display of bison meat, deer meat and then the regulars like beef and some pork and lamb. We bought some bison jerky, deer jerky, ground beef, deer sausage mixed with pork, and deer burger meat. The bison jerky was the best jerky I have ever had in my life. Read the rest of this entry »

If you live where there is a Tim Horton’s you’ll know it is famous for its coffee. It seems all of Canada reveres this famous donut shop that does make great chili and sandwiches. The coffee has always been good. However, McDonalds has worked hard to bring their coffee up to a better standard and now they have. Their coffee is actually better than Tim Horton’s, believe it or not. Read the rest of this entry »
